She looked up guiltily, not sure that was allowed. Kitten pushed all six blocks to the side. And if I put them back together, one and five are how many?” She bent over to hide the blocks with her hand so I could not see her count. Kitten started to speak, but then she stopped with a puzzled look on her face. What will happen if I move just one block over?” I did so. I could see her lips move as she counted silently. “How many are left?”Īgain, she did not need to count. You are so good at counting! Now, this time I’m going to move three blocks over here.” I moved three blocks to the side. “And if I push them back together…” I did so. “I’m going to move these blocks over to make a new pile,” I said. “How many blocks do we have here?” I asked. (We often do school work sprawled on the bed.) When I introduced number bonds to my youngest daughter, I set out six blocks on the bedspread. When you start teaching number bonds, use M&Ms or popsicle sticks or whatever you have on hand to make physical piles that can be pulled apart and pushed back together, then pulled apart in another way. On the other hand, number bonds connect to the student’s understanding at a deeper level, showing all four of the fact family relationships in a single picture. This can overload their minds and make them give up on math. Many students never see the connection, however, and think of these equations as separate little bits of abstract information, all of which have to be memorized. The idea of the four-fact family is to help students realize that once they know one of the facts in the family, they know all of them. Math textbooks often try to communicate the same concept using four-fact families. Even a young student who does not understand math notation can clearly see the connection between these numbers: the whole (6) has been pulled apart into two piles (4 and 2), and the piles can be pushed back together to make the whole. Imagine each circle to be a pile of blocks or other manipulatives, and think of the bar as the blocks lined up in a row. You can draw number bonds on paper using circles or bar diagrams. To subtract means to figure out how much more you would have to add to get the whole thing. Subtraction is not a totally different thing from addition they are mirror images. Number bonds let children see the inverse relationship between addition and subtraction. If you know the whole and one of the parts, you take away the part you know (subtract) to find the other part. If you know the parts, you can put them together (add) to find the whole. The concept of number bonds is very basic, an important foundation for understanding how numbers work. Unfortunately we couldn't hear or enjoy any of it, as the sound system was just as it was before just too damn loud to understand. Soon the lights go out and the tournament begins. Not included are drinks from that bar, gift shop items and of course their TIP! (don't take that the wrong way, that's just how they say it). Here you are greeted and seated but a costumed person, they are you server for the evening and inform you on what you will be eating and what is and isn't included in you evening. I'm starting to understand how cattle feel as we are directed up the stairs. Little did i know this is what the whole evening was going to be like "overly LOUD and OBNOXIOUS topped with BUY STUFF!!" Finally they are letting everyone go to their tables, not that you could hear it, we had to ask for directions after they yelling over the loud speaker stopped, but at least we didn't have far to walk as we were in the blue seats close to the front hall. I join my friends who are seated at a table in the center of the hall to wait for the events to start, but once again we are propositioned for drinks and pictures and things that glow in the dark as well as made to deal with the deafening loud speakers, they were so loud you couldn't understand what was being said. I pick medium and I'm told a price over $20 FOR A DRINK!!! With my refusal to pay the $20+ they offer to give me the "small" for $7, and pour the contents of the first cup into another, they are the same size but I get to keep the expensive one. Upon ordering my drink I'm given the choice small, medium or large. Sadly I got helped but someone in casual dress clothes, it kind of runes the illusion. Needless to say I'm angry so I head to the bar to get a drink to calm my nerves, It's like a feeding frenzy, people are pushing and shoving and acting like animals, there are no visible lines just everyone hoping that a costumed worker will see them. I'm then told that while I wait I can get myself or a friend Knighted by the King or take dress up photos both of which cost extra or visit one of the many gift shops or bars and will be called to my seat later. Upon asking one of the sellers for the location of my seat I realize I was hoodwinked, and made to arrive almost 2 hours before the tournament I came to see. At this point it seemed that no matter where I turned someone was trying to sell me things. And finally able to get past the first person there are 2 more trying to sell you drinks or send you to the bar. First a person with all glowing items hit me up and tried to point me to another person selling stuff. Next you are gathered into a large reception hall and upon entering bombarded with people trying to sell you things. You are next forced to take a photograph, you are given no choice and trust me it's a waste of time to fight it. Buyer beware. If you dont upgrade ur tickets for an additional cost this is the fate you will meet.Īs you enter what looks to be a medieval castle you are lined up single file, you then hand your tickets over over a place card and then given a paper crown. I am sincerely appauled at Midevils seating and sales tactics.I find them to wrong and out right Immoral. I spoke to a Manager about our issue's but to no avail, we were given a slice of cake for desert for our issues. There is no doubt in my mind that we would have received a better seat had we not been singled out and given the worst seats.I truly am not a complainer. More so, there was a wall next to our seating which caused a partial view of the show.My neck was truly sore from craining forward in an attempt to see. I could hear but could not see due the seating and the servers, concession stand people constantly standing in the way. This caused myself and 5 year old nephew to miss the beginning of the show.Being so far at the top caused us to miss valuable, key parts of the show.I remained confused during the entire show. ! So much for come early and get a good seat ! While seated, several individuals arrived late and blocked our view for the first 5 to 10 minutes. Table 18 which was in the very last row with an obstructed view. The very worst seats in the arena. The Hostess gave us tickets for the yellow section. We thought we were getting the royal treatment. While on line a staff member singled my party out and took us directly to the front of the line. I arrived early in order to receive a decent seat. I purchased tickets online and arrived an hour and a half before the show began. I will never recommend this show to any of my friends or family. I spent over $200.00 in tickets, drinks and merchandise but barely saw the show.I am very disappointed in Midevil Times. You should now be able to run docker commands without sudo. Sure, you can voice concerns and try to change things, but if the decision is between "do a thing users will hate but will make the company 2% more per year" vs "don't do this thing and hope people will like us more for it".yeah, they're gonna find someone to get it done. The money is too lucrative and there are too many qualified people to really have much power to "do the right thing" in most big corps. If devs push back, they get replaced with devs who don't. "But I only work there, I don't make decisions!" people will claim yet, at the end of the day, they are not only directly enabling these injustices but are very directly benefiting from them! We need to stop talking about these big tech companies as if they are abstract all-powerful gods acting from afar. The first step is to accept that, if you work for one of these companies, you are the injustice. I mean, many of the people on this website are the people who work for and enable these very companies in their injustice. > I know, we're just a bunch of ragtag hackers who just want to be able to have time to tinker and make/play video games. You may also receive an EXC_BAD_ACCESS error message. You can import an Outlook PST file from Windows or a previous version of Office on Mac but we found that Outlook kept crashing after trying to import data from Outlook 2011 with a message that we needed to activate it via Office 365 but didn’t have an active subscription. However, Microsoft has promised to add full support for Gmail and iCloud calendar and contacts sync in future monthly updates of Office 2016 for Mac. There’s definitely no support for iCal or iCloud Contacts syncing though which is useless if you want to use calendars across Apple/Windows devices and unforgivable when you consider it’s already supported in Office 2013 for Windows. In theory, there is support for syncing Outlook for Mac with Gmail and or Google Calendar as per Google’s App Password setup instructions although we couldn’t get this working. Outlook 2016 still only supports Exchange and local calendars and requires Exchange 2010 SP2 or higher which will annoy those users and companies still using Exchange 2007. Outlook is the biggest disappointment in Office 2016 for Mac, still lagging considerably behind the Windows version. So far so good but let’s take a closer look at the different components. Microsoft has declared its aim is to provide a uniform look for Office no mater what platform you’re using it on but Office 2016 For Mac definitely has a distinct OS X flavor to it. The overall look and feel of Office 2016 is tailored to fit the flatter, smoother look of Yosemite and it blends into OS X extremely well. Thankfully, the trusty old Menu Bar has been retained for Mac users though even though it’s long gone on Windows. And if you hate the ribbon, as some Mac users still do, you can hide it by clicking on an arrow on the right-hand side. The familiar ribbon interface has been retained and now looks exactly the same as on Windows Office 2013 for example. The overall look remains the same as Office 2011 for Mac but much slicker. This is complemented by other subtle interface tweaks that enhance the look of Office 2016. This is due to Microsoft’s long overdue decision to use Apple’s Cocoa APIs and the result is the best looking version of Office we’ve ever seen on Mac. It’s about time that Office embraced retina displays and Office 2016 does that with gusto. Here we take a closer look at what’s new in Microsoft Office 2016 for Mac. There are also still various other missing features from the Windows version that we found that need to be considered before you think about upgrading and the aforementioned Outlook crashes and bugs that we’ve looked at here. After September however, it will be available as a standalone download for purchase. If you want to use Office 2016 for Mac now, you require a monthly or annual subscription to Office 365 which will disappoint many who hate the increasingly common subscription model of pricing software. The biggest downside to Office 2016 for Mac is a) Frequent Outlook 2016 crashes for some users and b) The way Microsoft has decided to initially require users to subscribe to Office 365 in order to use Office 2016 on Mac. Most importantly perhaps, it brings all of them closer to the look and feel of the Windows version of Office although as we’ll see, Outlook still remains way behind. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Outlook but there’s still no version of Publisher or Access on Mac included. It also includes all the same applications as previous versions i.e. Will Office 2016 delete Office 2011 when I install it?įirst impressions are, Office 2016 is certainly the best looking version of Office for Mac yet finally bringing retina optimization to the suite and full screen support. You can run both perfectly well side by side and uninstalling Office 2016 will not remove Office 2011 or vice versa. Note also that installing either the preview or full purchased version of Office 2016 will not delete or copy over your current version of Office 2011 for Mac as it installs into a completely different location. The first and most important thing to note is that Office 2016 for Mac is only available to OS X 10.1o Yosemite users – meaning OS X 10.9 Mavericks users or lower are out of luck. Note that Office 2016 for Mac is about 2.5GB but you’ll need at least 5GB of free space on your Mac to complete the installation. You used to be able to try before you buy, but the Microsoft Office For Mac 2016 Preview was withdrawn by Microsoft in October 2016. Microsoft Office 2016 for Mac was initially only available to Microsoft 365 subscribers but is now available to non-subscribers too. Microsoft Office for Mac 2016 is the first update to Microsoft Office for Mac since 2011 so we’ve taken an in-depth look at what’s new in it. Maggia died on September 12, 1922, of a massive hemorrhage. "The girls became wild," remembered one, Catherine Wolfe. For, at last, the dial-painters in Ottawa learnt of the danger. This diagnosis should have resulted in the suspension of dial-painting nationwide.
